Extension of the pound to the Front du Médoc METPARK car park

With 845 places spread over 4 sites, METPARK manages the Public Administrative Service (SPA) of the pound for the 28 municipalities of the metropolis. From May 1, 2021, the main site of the Front du Médoc car park will be able to accommodate 427 vehicles, thanks to a significant extension of its reception capacity. Part of the ground floor and level +1 of this park will be reserved for the storage of impounded vehicles.

The Front du Médoc car park will therefore be organized from May 1, 2021 with:

  • Part of the ground floor and level +1 reserved for the pound
  • Level – 1 reserved for resident and permanent subscribers

Resident and permanent subscribers will now access the car park from rue Claude Bonnier. Hourly subscribers will continue to enter the car park via rue Robert Lateulade.

The main dates of the pound:

  • July 29, 1698: creation of an impound by the community council
  • May 12, 1975: direct management of the car pound by the CUB
  • November 26, 2010: transfer of the management of the pound to the Régie PARCUB
  • January 1, 20211: PARCUB (which became METPARK on 01/01/2020) manages the SPA pound

  • Front du Médoc car park: main site where all offenders must pay their impound costs
  • Parking Eight May 1945
  • Mérignac site near the ring road
  • Mérignac site opposite the entrance to the air base

Activity in decline for 5 years

In 2016, the pound accommodated more than 15,700 vehicles compared to 9,728 in 2019 and 7,618 in 2020! A constant and significant decline year after year.

In 2020, 36% of impounded vehicles were destroyed compared to only 11% in 2011.

95% of vehicles removed from municipalities outside Bordeaux center are improperly parked, the majority of which are non-rolling. The Mérignac sites therefore regularly reach their maximum occupancy capacity.

At the heart of the Bordeaux Metropolitan area’s projects, METPARK is developing the pound service thanks to the extension of its main site at Front du Médoc and the development of its external sites The management is working on the implementation of a new market which respond more effectively to the strong demands expressed by all the mayors of the Metropolis, in order to improve this public service of collection of vehicles on all the roads of the agglomeration.
